Role scope

  • Ability to lead underwriting and execution of North American real estate financing transactions, both for inbound and outbound investors
  • Clients include listed REIT’s, SWF’s, Institutions, and PERE investors
  • Outbound investment destinations are expected to encompass UK, Europe, & South East Asia
  • Experience of high value loans, ranging from $100m to $1bn in both secured and unsecured formats
  • Review legal documents with internal & external counsel and clients to ensure that financial terms, liabilities and representations are favourable to HSBC to close new transactions
  • Assess property level due diligence and relevant market studies
  • Effective collaboration across multi-functional teams to deliver HSBC universal banking product range to CRE clients
  •  Share market trends, knowledge and ideas with the team and develop junior resource to drive excellence and perform to the highest standards
  • Provide insight & analysis to aid the existing portfolio management team
  • Understand & ensure compliance with all relevant internal & external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal & external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the Global Banking business
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles


  • Over 8 years’ experience across North American real estate origination, underwriting, execution and distribution
  • Track record in managing the delivery of real estate financing across the institutional client space
  • Strong referencing amongst financial sponsor and institutional investor community
  • Advanced analytical & presentational skills, including leading financial modelling & stress analyses and knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Argus
  • Expert verbal & written communication, negotiation & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep understanding of risk management & credit mitigants in real estate sector
  • Active FINRA series 7, 63 and 79 required. On an exception basis, a 120 day contingency period can be provided to obtain the licenses, strictly at managers discretion
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a GPA of at least 3.5, Master’s Degree is desirable
